Nikki Russell

Nikki Russell

Nikki is the owner of Aptitude Fitness. Her passion for encouraging others to achieve their goals and helping others to feel their best prompted her to open Aptitude Fitness in the fall of 2021.

Nikki is an avid runner, including qualifying for the Boston Marathon three times. Nikki's dream is to create a supportive community, centered on fitness and wellness. She is a certified group fitness instructor and is obtaining a certification in nutrition. Outside of coaching and running, Nikki enjoys spending time with her husband of seven years and two daughters, Lyla and Este. Her happy place is in the kitchen, cooking and baking nutritious meals that also taste delicious is a challenge she works towards weekly.

Amy Langgin

Amy Langgin

Amy is an Iowa native and UNI graduate specializing in Communication and Women’s Studies. She has lived in Des Moines since 2006 and pursued a career in politics until 2019. Along the way, she has dabbled in Operations, HR and Fundraising. She has been active in sports and music her entire life, taught music lessons and coached tennis during college. Not until her mid-30s did she develop a love for group fitness, training and running. She fell in love with a strong community and received her certification in TRX training. She has run the BIX 7 race in the Quad Cities multiple times, ran several 5Ks in the Des Moines Metro and is now pivoting her focus to mostly functional training. She loves to travel, read, cook, bake, meditate and is starting to embrace Yoga. Her biggest draw toward group fitness is the unparalleled level of support and accountability it provides and loves to help people reach their goals.

Amy lives in Des Moines with Mark, her husband of 17 years, two kids, Greta and Oliver, and two ridiculous dogs, Maizy and Lola.

Kristin McManus

Kristin McManus

Kristin McManus is a lifelong Iowan. During her own personal health journey, she experienced various unhealthy obsessions & cycles. During this time, she was led by God to get her personal training certification. It has truly given her the ability to meet people where they are in their journey, while being able to provide the encouragement & resources needed to succeed. Kristin previously worked in a big gym atmosphere which, is what led her to coach group fitness. Kristin absolutely loves coaching group fitness, creating a space for community with others and being a source of encouragement. Empowering others through fitness is her passion! Outside the gym, she enjoys being outdoors, specifically hiking, baking for her family & all things holistic living.

Kyle McManus

Kyle McManus

Kyle is also a lifelong Iowan. He lives in West Des Moines with his wife, Kristin, and their four children. Kyle has a passion for fitness, specifically concentrating on functional strength and conditioning. With Kyle's diverse background, he brings an added dimension to our strength training classes.

Mariel Ramsey

Mariel Ramsey

Mariel has lived in Des Moines since 2007, shortly following graduation from U of Iowa. Mariel has always been interested in fitness and mind, body, soul connection. She first took yoga classes in college. Following the birth of her first child, she received her yoga teaching certification (RYT 200hr with Kris Hot Yoga), she also has obtained education in prenatal yoga. She has been teaching vinyasa and yin yoga for the past 8 years. Her focus is on breathing, pranayama, strengthening muscles, and finding a space to feel calm and intentional every time a yogi comes onto their mat. Outside of yoga, she loves to be with her family (husband, two boys and pup); travel; enjoy the awesome food scene in town; kayaking is a new love and just generally get out on those trails.

Rachel Kelderman

Rachel Kelderman

Rachel was born and raised in southeast Iowa. Growing up in the country she spent much of her youth active and adventuring. Rachel enjoyed track and cross country though out junior high and high school and started training for 1/2 marathons at 15 years old. Knowing she always wanted to go into a health and wellness related field she attended Creighton University and majored in Exercise Science. In the years since college she has held many roles within the wellness world from YMCA wellness director, to certified personal trainer and group fitness instructor. She’s active in the community and enjoys volunteering and being a part of the Girls on the Run of Central Iowa advisory board. In her day to day life Rachel enjoys watching her 3 very busy children enjoy their activities and spending time and traveling with her husband.

Sara Harrington

Sara Harrington

Sara grew up in Des Moines, attending DMPS, University of Iowa, and Mercy College of Health Sciences. Her interest in wellness and exercise blossomed during her freshman year in college and she continues to live and learn more of this lifestyle every day. Her favorite workouts include weight training, kayaking, biking, and kickboxing. She is an NFPT certified personal trainer and a certified group fitness coach. She has been a Registered Nurse for 19 years, spending most of those years caring for pediatric patients. Besides working out and teaching fitness, she enjoys spending time with her husband and 3 kids, traveling with friends and family, reading, knitting, and continuing to challenge herself to grow and learn every day.

Stephanie Clark

Stephanie Clark

Stephanie was born and raised in Des Moines, Iowa. She began an active lifestyle when her Mom put her in dance classes at three years old. Stephanie continued to dance throughout her childhood and into High School, where she was part of the Dance Team. Along with her continued love for dance, she has grown to love all forms of exercise with yoga, TRX and Kickboxing as her top favorites. Aside from working out, Stephanie enjoys being with her family, doing creative projects with her husband and spending time outside as much as possible. She loves helping people challenge their bodies and crush their personal goals, both mentally and physically.
